KORINTHIANS "A synth-drunk, propulsive slice of New (non)- Romantic darkwave" (Dave Cantrell)
Chaos Control is the debut album of the Ghent-based post-wave band KORINTHIANS, which, after two EPs and 1 single in the last five years is finally ready for the big work. KORINTHIANS is not your typical wave band; they are inspired by the music of artists such as Goose, Mogwai, The Soft Moon, Girls In Hawaii, Boytronic and Igor Strawinsky. The band blends 90s anger with 80s melancholy, darkwave with new romantics.
Chaos Control is an album inspired by the fictional double-sided Kandinsky painting flipped around in the film Six Degrees Of Separation. It is an ode to the individual’s inability to grapple with the demands of contemporary society, while reflecting the band’s intrinsic duality: it is
poppy or atmospheric? Chaos Control is also characterised by DIY-quality samples from recent science-fiction films and historic political speeches. The lyrics of singer Mattias De Backer tell stories of loss of control and slippage into chaos: drugs, abuse, deception, alcohol,
disillusionment and apathy. If the listener is torn between singing along and staring into the deep, black void, that is totally fine.
