Two musicians and a poet gathered in a car garage with no intentions to compromise. In just one day, they recorded a remarkable improvisational duel between BARST and Karen Willems, interrupted and augmented by Sofie Verdoodt’s spoken word performance.
Surrounded by industrial gear and overwhelmed by the scent of burnt rubber, the trio managed to transcend from the worldly plane into a free-spirited collision of cables, wires and artistic creativity. This process and the setting was documented by photographer Jeroen Jacobs.
The result is an immersive, sometimes discordant, experience with a hint of krautrock, drones, jazz and noise. Yet, elegantly evading any classification, and always flirting with the derailing of the precarious balance.
