“The Unexpected” is the fourth full album by Belgian (Ostend-based) Darkwave/Gothic band DER KLINKE..
In the 3 years since the last album "The Gathering of Hopes" many things have changed in all of the bandmembers' personal lives. The intensity of those 3 years is almost touchable in the well balanced diversity of songs on this album.

Cool austere cold wave from this Swiss band that mixes classic elements of the genre with some mid-period Kraftwerk, early Minimal Man, a touch of the Frozen Autumn, with mostly icy ennui-laden spoken vocals, but in general sounds more like contemporary bands like Night Sins or Veil of Light. It's been snowing all day, I'm halfway through a bottle of red wine, the cats are sleeping and this is the perfect soundtrack to watching endless winter. brantly

I have listen to SOM intensely since hearing the first bars of "Black Planet", and I have heard many imitations and mediocre renditions. This album. Floors. Me. Each track is a unique, personal and strikingly powerful musical execution of insight into the truly unique magick of this most inimitable group. My only criticism--and it is tragic one--is that the vinyl version was not the full "Honoris II" collection. Gods! Get this, servants: it is music to rise and reverberate to. Nafre de la Toundra
